As much as this is all very interesting, this game will be made based upon Aliens, not Alien. In Alien there was no mention of the Colonial Marines. There was probably no intention to make a sequel.
I think a lot of the methods used to present the creature in the first movie were designed to propagate the implacable foe idea and make the horror more horrific. Making the Alien this " " " " " unkillable " " " " " monster worked well within the horror genre; it didn't work within the Action/Sci-fi drama. "Another bug hunt" vs just one unkillable monster would have made for a very dull (second) movie. Alien was a very psychological movie with more effect being gained from what you didn’t see than what you did. This is very much like any other horror movie which features a villain of assumingly unassailable skill/strength/other. Alien was a horror movie, and one that I very much enjoyed. Aliens was a sci-fi movie, and one I enjoyed more. I'm pleased this game will be based on the Aliens canon. That means the bugs can be blasted to bits.

I,d like the gigerbug to be an alien that appears from time to time only, tries to capture/kill you, and if you are succeded then he dissapears, and will try again later in the game.
I,d like to be constantly facing warriors and runners, but for the gigerbug I,d like It to be the unkill-able monstrosity that is stalking you during the whole game. Just one giger alien in the game..., he is that special alien. Of course It would have a crucial role at the end of the game, just when you are trying to scape from the planet after defeating the queen or something like that, then you would have your "last" encounter with the creature..., that would be gloriously cool imo ![]() While this game is based on A L I E N S, meaning this that the warrior is the main enemy, the giger alien could perfectly being "that" other alien as well, and that would not fuck the game by any means, just the opposite, and we would finally mix two different canonical concepts of the alien (Scott-Cameron)..., why can we kill those blue monstrosities, but we can,t kill the other one?. It would be very cool from a storyline point of view, you know, when we find those records on the floor (ala doom3) and we hear the scientifics who were working there before "the incident" talking about the experiments on the gigerbug and trying to explain why It,s so different to the others..., of course, the giger alien scaped, and is now awaiting you and your squad, and this is not good news. |

Impossible, you should have to make It from scratch. You have to take into account that while the warrior is the main enemy in the whole game, and then the queen as the boss, and well all that stuff, there,s something more out there stalking you, and It,s just one alien only but you can,t kill It, you just can scape him. This would requiere some "special" moments during the game where this unknown human alien type makes his appearance (trying to get you), and this is never something moddable. It has to be made from scratch.
I think that something like this would make this game to shine till unexpected limits since we are finally mixing together both human aliens. All we need would be a good story about why this alien is so different (mixed with the storyline, just that, not the main focus being on the gigerbug only) from the others. (something like a experiment with an isolated human born alien = far from the hive =far from the queen = they subsequently get a giger alien in their laboratory). About how we could make the gigerbug in the game..., I don,t know, could be based on animations+ quick time events, until you are succeded and then It dissapears to appear again in another place. Man that would be lovely, and we wouldn,t hurt the warriors nor the queen.., just the opposite, we would enhance the experience and the storyline a lot. |
